006: THE PRESS

When the first printing press was invented or who invented it remains a mystery, but the oldest known printed text originated in China during the first millennium A.D. The Diamond Sutra, a Buddhist book from Dunhuang, China from around 868 A.D. during the Tang Dynasty, is said to be the oldest known printed book. By 1450 moveable type had been perfected in the form of The Gutenberg Press.  Into the 16th century CE, even small towns now had their own printing press. From this moment forward, many towns would have a dependable village printer, trusted with mass producing important information.

New York City is our town, and The Press NYC is our trusted printer.

Just as The Gutenberg Press revolutionized the spread of knowledge and ideas across Europe in the 16th century, The Press NYC is reshaping and advancing the way we share our creative visions and design interpretations.

Since the very beginning, printing as a trade demands efficiency. Through long horizontal gestures implemented in multiple facets, clients and staff alike will inherently understand the progression and allocation of work to be carried out within this space. Ideals of transparency and practicality will be established through a thoughtful palette of materials which, when distributed will unify the space and refine a sense of ease and efficiency within the space.
